The Sever

The cut of life begins, severed

umbilical cord divides the mother

from her son, he becomes self-dependent,

welcomes education and the institution of

knowledge only to render halfway through,

and disconnects from family to raise his own,

applies his warmest regards to education, wallows

in menial work, engulfed in servitude and always

serving the rich, he becomes disheartened, fails

his dreams like many before him, he then terminates

his marriage in defeat; inherits one fine loyal pet,

alas, fourteen years later, dog dissevers from the lonely

pair, slowly as the watched kettle but hurried as the

morning sunrise, time evaporates his friends, family, and

hope, he finds religion but realizes it's nothing but scheming

zealots who want control, woe the cleave that wove the guilt;

he walked to gape one last time to witness the only miracle

of life-the unlading sunset, yet, soon it too departed over

his hill of misery.

Scattered Yards

Beyond the dust of time lay all graveyards;

forgotten cuddles, sloppy kisses, and endless snores,

lie in unmarked shallow graves the greatest friends

man and family ever shared, loving pals, faithful companions,

and endearing reciprocal creatures that now, buried in potter’s field,

scattered and forgotten love, faithful as the warmth of the sun that

hid behind their cold noses, their eyes could never alter their telling wag

of disposition, no creature ever waited more for your return, and no

untiring being ever adored you more than that little mortal soul greeting you

at the front door; their love is nonpareil, no other animal or creature measures

up to their devotion and commitment, dogs simply live to love you and only you,

unflinching as light upon the morning, unwavering as darkness upon the night,

they are incredible creatures, mankind doesn't deserve their affection and

faithfulness, and yet, when their time has expired, we bury them in scattered,

unmarked, and forgotten fields.

Yesterday’s Memory

 Hark, those intangible memories

you know, the disheartening ones

you wore in novice green with no

sleeves, Oh, how they linger upon

the cold shelf of memory, you’re too

disgraceful to wallow through the problem

again, you hold on to it just the same, wondering

why disappointment always reigned upon you, time’s

taught you one thing and that's class and money rule

over everything, so, no one cares for your pining and

disheartening woe of failures, we live, we learn, and we

die alone, no new news there, instead, take your cross

and bury it and forget it, you'll resurrect or revitalize

happiness, the weight of misfortune prevails upon all,

let bygones be lasting goodbyes, self-wallowing is for

children, address your discontentment and laugh, time

doesn't care who cries or who dies, so, live positively in

the presence forward, you're the best reward.
